Chimala designer Noriko Machada takes no shortcuts when it comes to crafting the brand’s vintage-inspired, workwear-influenced denim. Though she designs out of New York City, all Chimala pieces are produced in Japan, beginning with the weaving of selvedge denim on pre-war shuttle looms, and ending with distressing done by hand. Drawing on workwear silhouettes, the collection has elevated jeans, utility-inspired shirting and outerwear at its core.
